Haiku Contest Winners Announced

Two winners have been named in the International Air Service Committee “I Love to Fly Nonstop” haiku writing contest. The winners were Mike Donovan, who will use his two nonstop tickets to travel to Amsterdam to celebrate his honeymoon, and Raquel Benito who will travel to Tokyo.

Nearly 700 participants submitted a haiku and the two winners were picked via a Facebook vote from a field of ten finalists. The contest was sponsored by Avanti Destinations, Azumano Travel and Delta Air Lines.

During the contest more than 7,400 people logged onto the I Fly Nonstop Facebook page and nearly 800 signed up as fans. The campaign also includes an ongoing blog that includes some great personal stories about what the flights mean to some of Portland’s international travelers.
